Montreal Ville de Verre 2010

Organized by the Society of Montreal Museum Directors, Montreal Ville de Verre 2010 have been more than 100 exhibitions and events with the glass as the main theme in 2010 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada .
events deals with all possible aspects of glass art, craft, architecture, integration of art to architecture, history and society, science and ecology, and recycling industry. In museums, schools, community centers or training schools, including in public, the events of Montreal Ville de Verre have reached thousands of citizens and visitors, both the diversity and the quality of them.
26 to May 30 was the Congress of the Association of Glass Artists of Canada ( Glass Art Association of Canada ), masterfully organized by the Directorate of the Association and Espace Verre in Montreal. For four days, members and supporters of the association had the pleasure of being in the same city, share our experiences, along with those of the guest artists in a unique and endless event.
Starting with the exposure of members in the room the Vieux Agora Cegep in Montreal and ending in a colorful event: Verre - Couture: le défilé ... A fashion show with clothes that included a glass between his materials and components. Under the artistic direction of Laura Donefer and Montréal fashion designer Philippe Dubuc and organized together with the Fashion Hall of Montreal, we sought to coordinate 15 teams composed of a fashion designer and glass artist. The result was a marvel of transparency, color, talent and creativity that was able to intoxicate any assistance.
During the congress we had lectures and demonstrations by various artists and glass workers from around the world. Highly motivating was seeing the trajectory of companies and colleagues from a craft, often with few resources, were able to produce works of great artistic and technical deployment, either for the Cirque du Soleil, hotels, casinos or private residences worldwide.
I want to emphasize the lecture given by Silvia Levenson show who knew the importance of the concept of the work possibly over technical virtuosity, sometimes tends to take the lion's share in our environment.
personally participated, with Alejandra based, Agora exposure of members of the GAAC. We were chosen to present our work on the Chateau Ramezay in Old Montreal, with a vernissage truly chic and an attendance of over 20 thousand people during the summer. We attended several exhibitions
magnificent throughout the year, for example: It's hot! The dawn of Glass Art in Quebec, at the Museum of Handicraft Teachers and Quebec, where we discover a little of the history of Quebec art glass. Highlight the exhibition of works from the collection of the state company that manages the game in the province: Loto Québec, which devotes a portion of its revenues to purchase works of art. As the glass collection on one of the last to develop, for this occasion Espace Création Loto Québec amazed me with the content its magnificent collection. The Congress
I have the certainty of sharing with colleagues and friends a unique and enriching, and personally have known some of the glass artists in the world. Guillermo
